Forthcoming Events in EUEuropean Photovoltaic Solar Energy ConferenceThe 22nd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition will take place from 3 to 7 September in Milan, Italy. The conference will provide a platform for dialogue and information exchange on the latest developments in photovoltaic (PV) solar research and development. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), research institutions and universities from the renewable resources sector, and companies, are invited to submit an online technology profile and then attend the event. Areas to be addressed at the event include fibre composites, biopolymers, adhesives and wood, bio-energy, biogas, and ecological building materials. A congress on plant oils and fuels, and a symposium on materials made from renewable resources will take place alongside the brokerage event. Three thematic sessions are planned. The topics are: - heritage and rural values - promoters for durable rural development; - challenges for rural development in the EU 27 in the period 2007 to 2013; - European research networks experience versus local networks experience. The international and multidisciplinary event will bring together biotechnologists from Europe and beyond. It will present cutting-edge science in all the disciplines of biotechnology, as well as partnering services. The 13th edition of the congress will have a particular focus on symbiosis. EU Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik will give a keynote speech at the event. The Commission will also host sessions on funding possibilities in the life sciences under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), and international cooperation in the life sciences. The event aims to promote the meeting between science and business through faster innovation and the launching of new products and services. The conference is divided into five areas (health, agrofood, environmental, bioprocesses, and bioproducts and services), dealing with specific and multidisciplinary themes. There will be sessions for entrepreneurs (real and potential) who will present examples of how to use biotechnologies in trade and services.
